The Austrian state, a small-scale imperialist power, is a plaything of U.S. imperialism that has gone after the RCIT for distributing literature opposing Israel’s genocidal war on the Palestinian people. A criminal complaint has been filed for “suspicion of incitement to commit terrorist offenses and approval of terrorist offenses…”. SUSPICION!
The RCIT stated, and justly so, “that as long as the Zionist state exists, the Palestinians will continue suffering from state terrorism! This is why we stand for the socialist perspective of a democratic and red Palestine. We support the struggle for the destruction of the Zionist state and the right to return for all Palestinian refugees.”
This is not “terrorism”, but international working class defense of the Palestinian people along with a call for a democratic-socialist Palestine.
We oppose the Zionist State project. Trotskyists have opposed the Zionist state as it could never exist except as an outpost of imperialism. The oil in the surrounding states and the anti-communist needs of the Truman Doctrine converged as the U.S. took on the Zionist settler state project as a fixture of postwar policy. It is not just the policy that must be replaced but the state that developed it. Down with the U.S. imperialist state! U.S. out of West Asia!
The ensuing Nakba, the Palestinian national tragedy, has never stopped, and this is exactly and sometimes only due to U.S. support. Zionism rests on the concept of an anti-semite surrounding world and depends for its supply of colonists on it. The ‘Zionism’ of Biden and the U.S. ruling class is anti-Semite. So also is the Austrian capitalists’ support for Israel, and the prosecution of the RCIT merely serves to camouflage this fact.
We stand shoulder to shoulder with all those who resist the ongoing Nakba and all who stand against the Zionist project and its ongoing genocidal war. We defend Michael Pröbsting and the RCIT against these outrageous repressions which only show the subservience of the Austrian state and its politicians to the U.S. imperialist bloc and its creation and fortification of the Zionist settler colonial regime. Behind the U.S. and Austrian support for the Zionist Regime is the dictate of big oil and the fear that the unfinished tasks of the Arab nation revolution will be taken up as the permanent and socialist revolution.
We do not share the characterization of Israel as an imperialist state, but it is a henchman and outpost of U.S. imperialism. The tail does not wag the dog. The genocide is made in the U.S.
