The feds go after anti-fascists while Trump’s rightist thugs get off with a slap on the wrist
Daniel Baker was sentenced to 3.5 years in federal prison and 3 addtional years of probation for anti-fascist advocacy on social media, advocacy for mobilization of the community of anti-fascists in the event of a second coup attempt by the coalition of QAnon, Proud Boys, Patriot Prayer, and other chauvinist white supremacist and white power thugs. Despite not hitting the streets, or anyone, this anarchist, hare Krishna vegan, yoga teacher, street medic and veteran of PKK Rojava defense against ISIS, the feds have prosecuted him more severely than those who breached the Capitol on January 6th.
Baker’s gut instincts to mobilize the community to confront, and drive out fascists are commendable. But as an anarchist his advocacy, like his history in the movement, has been individualist not class based. His “call to arms” against potential fascist mobilizations in Tallahassee, FL, missed the mark as it was not directed to the working class and oppressed and in particular their organizations; this is not a tactical as much as a strategic blunder of anarchism.
It is no surprise that the feds, even under Biden, go after this anti-fascist militant, and it is worthwhile to contrast the treatment of the Vermont central labor council by the AFL-CIO national leadership, the Trumka buracracy, long tied to the Democratic party by ten thousand strings. The Vermont AFL-CIO passed resolutions to initiate a General Strike against the threat of a Trump coup only to be sanctioned by the national AFL-CIO leadership.
Neither the Democrats nor the Trade Union leadership comprehend that actual anti-fascism means the defeat of imperialism, the system which butters their bread. So rather than mobilizing the masses against the fascist threat they rally the forces of the state and the sellouts in the labor leadership against anti-fascists.
Fascism is the sword of Damocles the capitalist class holds over the working class and oppressed peoples, it is never defeated by bourgeois democracy, only by the armed masses, the CWG advocates the formation of self defense guards by the working class and communities of oppressed people against white power terrorists and fascist thugs. We advocate for class struggle methods to end the fascist threat by mass mobilizations that lead to workers power and a workers government. To defeat fascism, individualism is insufficient and counter productive. We need to win all anti-fascist militants to build a fighting workers labor party to unite the entire working class in the fight for socialism now! Only such a party can stop the wave of social reaction and smash fascism in the egg.
