Introductory Note: The restoration of capitalism in the former Soviet Union is now an accomplished fact. Back in 1991, however, there was a major ongoing debate within the Trotskyist movement as to whether capitalist restoration had succeeded. Our position was that the events of 1991 resulted in restoring capitalism in the former Soviet Union. This article expressed our views regarding how Trotskyists should analyze and respond to this historical development.
