Introductory Note:There was a debate within the FLTI regarding China, between a minority consisting of HWRS and the Communist Workers Group of New Zealand (CWG), and a majority consisting of the Latin American sections of the FLTI and the WIVL in South Africa. The July 2009 FLTI Congress agreed to continue the debate on China publically, before the global workers’ movement, pending further discussion at a future congress. This document, a letter from HWRS to the LOI-CI (Argentina section of FLTI), responds to the majority’s criticism of the minority’s document on Haiti, which also relates to the debate on China. Letter to the National Committee of LO(CI)

We denounce you as slanders and liars. You wrote “We won’t ask you, because it is not your program, to have the anti-imperialist bravery of demanding the immediate withdrawal of the US troops from Hong Kong and Taiwan who are usurping Chinese territory,”.

This is a lie and a slander. You know that we stand for the immediate withdrawal of US troops from everywhere in the world. You know that we stand for the defeat of our own imperialist forces. But you chose to slander us.

You wrote “It has been 10 days since such martyrdom of the Haitian people, and as we see, the HWRS is keeping a complete silence on this, leaving us, the Latin American Trotskyists alone with the Haitian masses, fighting the murderers of the US and French imperialisms.”


This is another slander. You received our statement on Haiti. Our organization is very small and it involved in the class struggle. This is why we could not write a statement immediately on Haiti. It is the responsibility of the SCI to write a statement on behalf of the FLTI. We did not receive a statement from the SCI. If we had received a statement that denounces the US and call for its defeat we would have signed it.

You wrote: “We won’t ask you to claim you agree on this. In a fight between USA with China and Russia you won’t be on the oppressed nation’s side but in the oppressor’s one. With this, you have completely abandoned, as you have done it since a long time, the fight for restoring the proletarian dictatorship in a revolutionary way in the former workers states, over the basis of the destruction of the restoration regimes of the Chinese and Russian bourgeoisies, servants of the JP Morgan Chase, HSBC and the rest of the super banks in the world”.(our bold)

You accuse HWRS of siding with American imperialism. But dual defeatism means first of all the DEFEAT of one own imperialist bourgeoisie. You supposedly been a Marxist long enough to know that in case of a war between two imperialist countries the American revolutionaries call for the defeat of their own imperialism. Thus, Your statement is nothing but another lie and a slander.

It seems to us that you are not interested in honest discussions among revolutionaries. You are mainly interested to display HWRS as traitors of the working class in front of your membership through the methods of slanders and lies.
