All sections of the IFLT believe that capitalism has been restored in China. They disagree, however, on whether China has joined the ranks of the world's imperialist powers. The majority's documents on China can be found on pages 45-53 of International Workers Organizer No. 1, part 2, and pages 30-31 of International Workers Organizer (inaugural issue, Sept. 2008). (As of March 7, 2010, these documents are no longer available on our website.) The documents listed below present the position of a minority of IFLT sections, consisting of HWRS and the CWG-NZ, who believe that China has become an imperialist country.

  • The Truth Is Concrete (PDF)
  • The Implications of China’s Contradictory Nature
  • For Revolutionary Defeatism of Both the US and China in the Event of Inter-Imperialist War
  • China’s Role Is Not Progressive
  • Minority Resolution on China from the July 2009 IFLT Congress
  • Update (March 2010): HWRS and the CWG-NZ have split from the FLTI, primarily over the China question. See our letter announcing and explaining the split. Click here for an overall introduction to the China debate, and links to other related documents.
